Lily was spayed 4 days ago.....she's licked away all but 1 suture. Incision is good. Is this serious?
Yes it is! You should have gotten her back to the vets ASAP!
I strongly suggest you do so as soon as you can! This time get her a cone for her head so she cant get at the stitches. They may have to resuture her up! This is very dangerous!

It usually takes more than 4 days for a cut like that to heal. As long as you keep her calm and quiet (no running, jumping, etc.) it shouldn't be a problem. If she still licks and chews at it, or if you can't keep her quiet 24/7 or if the wound opens, then take her back to the vet immediately.

I'd get her back to the Vet, and they should give her a plastic thingy that goes around the head to avoid dogs licking.... your Vet will know what I mean! A dog's saliva does have some antiseptic properties I believe, but there is a risk of infection none the less, and also the chance the wound site will open right up!

I have a peace lily plant and would like to know how often do they bloom?
I live in zone 9, Central Fl. My peace lillies bloom from early spring till the lst frost in the fall. We have ours in containers because they love tight root balls. Use a slow realease fertilizer, keep moist, well drained and a lightly shaded area. This is a rain forest specimen and to get it beautiful you must treat as a rain forest plant. Lots of water, quick dry off, good fertilizer, and light shade.

Now the leaves are turning brown and drooping in all the pots. My peace lily leaves also are turning brown on the tips. I cut the brown part off. Was this the wrong thing to do? (e-mail reference)
A: The plant probably needs a rest period. Let it dry for six to eight weeks. This is a natural cycle in its native tropical habitat. Apply enough water to barely keep the soil moist. After that, resume normal watering later in the summer. If the brown tips persist, change to distilled water. It may be the salts in your water supply, especially fluoride, that are causing the tip burn. It doesn’t hurt the plant, but it does look unsightly.

Can I submerge my lily seeds to jumpstart growth?
I plan on sowing the seeds in real soil once they germinate, but for now I'm concerned with IF they'll germinate if I dunk them in water for the first few days or something. If this is a plausible way to start growth, how long should I keep them in the water and what other circumstances should I try to keep to ensure the highest chance of germination?

Why did my agapanthus (lily of the nile) stop blooming?
Both of my agapanthus started to bloom really early this year, before anyone else around this area. Some of the buds bloomed, but about 90% of them turned into a hard green seedling looking thing. I opened it up to see what was inside and there were some thin black things. Is that seeds? My agapanthus' are getting full sun.

Your agapanthus have bloomed and are now setting seeds. The little black things in the hard green pods are seeds. If you leave the seedpods on the plants they will dry out and turn yellow and you can harvest the seeds and try and plant them next year.
They only bloom once a year and you are going to have to wait for next spring for them to bloom again.
I don't know what zone you are in but my agapanthus do better is semi-shade.

A simple answer is yes.Just enjoy it until it's ugly. Then go ahead and plant it. I am in NW ,Ohio. I planted one 3 years ago, and last year I had 9 stems and over 30 blossoms. No mulching, no fertilizer, no nothing.

I'm in Jersey and plant EVERYTHING in the fall. I seem to have the best luck then. Just read the directions on the container and make sure that you put them at the right depth (they only have so much gumption to breat through the soil and in our case some clay too). Then mulch over the top to give them a little insulation against the cold (something loose not big chunks) and you should be golden come summer.

You cut them. Just cut off the tops so that the stalks can get energy (food) from the sun to store in the bulb and rebloom next year. Do not remove the stalks until they turn yellow.

i work in a coffee shop (the coffee oils in the air) and that is where the plant is, and i have heard that acidity and alkalinity can affect the color of flowers on some plants, so maybe that is the same with peace lilies? does anyone know? it has a few new flowers growing in that are white.

Can the plant Belamcanda Chinensis (AKA the Blackberry Lily or the Leopard Lily) be wild?
I live in Arkansas and I have a patch of these plants growing in my field. They have always been there. I am thinking that it is part of an old homestead. Or could they possibly be wild? I've never seen anything like them before.

If the book takes place in the modern day, and does not involve magic, might, and myth, I think you should stick with Lily. If you are writing about a time in the past (or the future), or if you have magic, might, and myth involved, you go with Liliana. It's more original, therefore it sounds like it's from a different time or place. It all depends on the setting, characters usually have to fit in the world you write them into.
Edit: Ah, well, with your additional details, I definitely think you should go with Liliana. It's silly to have a goddess named Lily. Liliana is much more epic sounding, and since your story obviously involves the magic, might, and myth, Liliana is a better fit. Hope you have fun writing!

i grow hardy water lilies in my pond, they are quite easy to grow . i just pop them in to a pot it with some fertilizer every year for water garden and they just thrive. not much maintaining either, just cut off dead leaves and flower to keep the water clear and the look a bit cleaner. you can leave the hardy variety in the water through winter but take the tropical lotus and lily up and in a unheated garage.
the price are depend on the variety but most are less than $20 ( smaller plants go for only $5-10) most nursery carry them so just ask, they'll show you

Do you like Lily or Liliana for a character?
If the book takes place in the modern day, and does not involve magic, might, and myth, I think you should stick with Lily. If you are writing about a time in the past (or the future), or if you have magic, might, and myth involved, you go with Liliana. It's more original, therefore it sounds like it's from a different time or place. It all depends on the setting, characters usually have to fit in the world you write them into.
Edit: Ah, well, with your additional details, I definitely think you should go with Liliana. It's silly to have a goddess named Lily. Liliana is much more epic sounding, and since your story obviously involves the magic, might, and myth, Liliana is a better fit. Hope you have fun writing!

Can Peace Peace Lily be moved outside during the summer?
Yes, but make sure it is shaded and watered. They don't like direct sunlight and like to be moist. I have a big one that I keep under a dogwood all summer and water at least every other day.

Repotting a Peace Lily to a 6" pot. Should I use some kind of rock to help with drainage?
As long as the new pot has drainage holes you do not need additional rock. Be sure that if the new pot has a saucer to catch draining water from watering plant that it does not stay in the saucer. They have perlite, white little pebbles to help with the drainage that you mix in the soil, or if unsure, I use a few little broken pieces of styrofoam egg carton or packing peanuts, or the other packing things that look like "s". Just two or three is all the is necessary. You could also use pieces of broken clay pot.

Oh my, Easter lily is turning yellow and dying, repotted a month ago and getting moderate light?
Lillies spend a great chunk of the year dormant.
If yours was a gift, then it was "forced", or started on it's flowering cycle earlier than i it had just been planted outside.
Could be it's just "done" and going dormant. If you live in a zone where it does well outside, I would plant it directly in the garden. It will go dormant rapidly after you transplant, but the bulb will still be growing. Put some bulb food or bone meal in the hole when you plant so t will have good nutrients.
Then, with luck, it will reappear next spring, and flower. (The flowering will happen much latter than it when it flowered in a pot in the house).

Potato and lily are probably the easiest, potato, takes about 3 to 4 weeks, you should have about a foot of growth then, Lily--depends on if you buy them as a rhizome or as a "fan", rhizomes usually plant in early spring, usually 60 days you will have flowers on them, as far as onions and sugarcane I've never attempted to plant. My are growing in pots outside. One was more out of the sun and its leaves are starting to turn yellow. It is getting plenty of water, maybe too much? Another pot is a little more out in the sun and is doing great. They are on the west side and receive later afternoon full sun.

lily was good looking and was willing to do whatever it takes. She had to have courage to tell T-ray she didnt have his money but it took more courage to do her work without protection. Eventually she came up with enough fast cash to pay off T-ray and choose another manager.

kate nash probably.. I saw some of the things on Lilly's myspace page..and wasn't impressed with her attitude, being opinionated is one thing, but she pushs it too far. I like her dad's sense of humour though (Keith) from what i've seen of him on tv.
as for her music, well that song "smile" is a blatent plagism of a far older song by.. errr Karen (?) Kay from years before.. I forgot the artist, but heard the 2 side by side on radio, and it was pretty much the same..
Karen Kay has also a famous son, lead singer of Jamiroquai.
