Lily was spayed 4 days ago.....she's licked away all but 1 suture. Incision is good. Is this serious?
Yes it is! You should have gotten her back to the vets ASAP!
I strongly suggest you do so as soon as you can! This time get her a cone for her head so she cant get at the stitches. They may have to resuture her up! This is very dangerous!

It usually takes more than 4 days for a cut like that to heal. As long as you keep her calm and quiet (no running, jumping, etc.) it shouldn't be a problem. If she still licks and chews at it, or if you can't keep her quiet 24/7 or if the wound opens, then take her back to the vet immediately.
Reply:The stitches should stay in for at least 10 days! I'd get her back to the Vet, and they should give her a plastic thingy that goes around the head to avoid dogs licking.... your Vet will know what I mean! A dog's saliva does have some antiseptic properties I believe, but there is a risk of infection none the less, and also the chance the wound site will open right up!
Reply:Is she wearing her ecollar? My 1 year old female poodle got spayed on 04/30/08 and she is back to normal, no licking herself, i did just take off her ecollar. My dog got absorable sutures so I do not need to take her to remove the stiches...
Best of luck, but call your vet that would be your best bet!
Reply:Ugh.... the sutures should stay in for more than 4 days. Call your vet in the morning, they'll surely want to take a look at her. Why did you let her lick it so much? My dog got neutered 6 days ago and every suture is still intact.
Reply:Agreed- call the vet first thing in the morning. Although the incision may look fine now, it's probably just healed on the surface and you DO NOT want that popping open! Keep her still in her kennel until morning!
Reply:a wound takes a good 14 days to heal properly. she needs to see the vet again asap because its very likeyl now that she could open up the wound.
Reply:YES! Call the vet NOW!!!
Reply:Yes take her in ASAP she should have worn a collar for the 10 days before the sutures come out......

Lily's Crossing HELP!!!!!!!!!!!?
This year, as in other years, Lily has planned a spectacular summer in Rockaway, in her family's cozy house on stilts over the Atlantic Ocean. But by the summer of 1944, World War II has changed almost everyone's life. Lily's best friend, Margaret, and her family have moved to a wartime factory town, and worse, much worse, Lily's father is on his way overseas to the war.
There's no one else Lily's age in Rockaway until Albert comes, a refugee from Hungary, a boy with a secret sewn into his coat. Albert has lost most of his family in the war; he's been through things Lily can't imagine. But when they join together to rescue and care for a kitten, they begin a special friendship. For Lily and Albert have their own secrets to share: they both have told lies, and Lily has told a lie that may cost Albert his life.

Where can I buy Lily of the Valley flower potted?
This french flower that grows in May is so hard to find. Does anyone know a website? I tried growing them on my own but that didnt work.
Where can I buy Lily of the Valley flower potted?
Looks like there are 15 vendors with plants for sale at http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53/ RScott
Reply:Wait until next year. Then check your local nurseries and garden centers for flowering lily of the valley in pots.
Reply:Who ever told you it is French? Convallaria majalis requires a period of cold in order to bloom. Perhaps you could get one at White Flower Farm or Smith and Hawken already potted. I have seem them in both places before.

I have a Peace Lily that I need to prune or trim. How do I do this correctly?
So not prune this when it's in bloom that will harm the plant, put into a severe type of shock.

Beta fish and peace lily echo systems...are they bad for the fish?
Their not bad for the fish but this is the theory behind them
the fish eat off of the roots of the plant and the plant cleans the water for the beta..
sometimes the beta doesn't eat enough of the roots so you would still have to feed it some sort of food or it will pass away
Beta fish and peace lily echo systems...are they bad for the fish?
those are death traps. the betta needs some meat in its diet, which is generally given to them by us in the form of the betta pellets. the plants only remove nitrates, nothing else, the plants dont eat the fish waste that is left to sit and rot at the bottom. Sure, the fish will eat the plant, but the fish will slowly deteriorate fomr lack fo a healthy diet and starve to death. can they be kept with the plants? yes. but they need additional food and regular water changes. would the betta be happier in at least a gallon of water? YES!
